  • Whether you're a complete beginner or already know some Russian, you’re welcome to join! The course starts with zero assumptions about your knowledge and gradually builds up to more advanced topics.
  • This is not a professional language course. It’s informal, community-oriented, and designed to help us connect, communicate, and grow through the Russian language.
  • This course is free, it is open to all adult learners, and you can join at any time.

  • Hybrid meetings format - Online and in-person sessions
  • Peer interaction – Class participation, learning in small groups
  • Native conversational practice – Interaction with native speakers
  • Technology – Course website, online resources, apps, using free AI tools for instant feedback
  • Proven learning strategies – Techniques that help us learn, backed by research

Learning Russian or any new language has many benefits in addition to knowing the language itself:

  • Making new friends – Connect with fellow learners and native speakers in the community
  • Communication skills – Enhance your communication skills by actively participating in classroom activities and teaching others
  • Memory and mental flexibility – Language learning is excellent brain exercise
  • Cultural insight - Better understanding of Russian culture and traditions

One special technique we’ll try is learning by teaching. It not only strengthens your own understanding of the material, but also builds community spirit.

Second-language learners often recognize the challenges that native speakers may not see, since they’ve faced the same difficulties themselves. You’re welcome (but never required) to teach the concepts you've already mastered to your peers. This can be working in pairs or small groups, leading short practice activities, or presentig material in class.

This "learn by teaching" approach makes the course unique and truly community-based: we learn something new, pass it along to others, and they in turn share it with the next person.
